After a week off from the series during which I covered the movie that came out earlier this year, we are back to regularly scheduled Tensura. I have done some overhauls to the blog in the past few weeks – and will continue to do so – and during this I made a page specifically for Tensura content. Go check it out! I’m hoping to add in some Light Novel content there in the future as well, but I first have to catch up on other books that I’m currently reading. It’s still the heat of summer and I have always found that both reading and writing are more fall/winter activities than spring/summer activities, so my drive has been a bit low. I have low energy to begin with, so when it’s warm out that drops even lower, but a little bit of Tensura is always enough to lift my spirits. So with all that said, let’s dive back into our slimesekai.

Everything seems to be converging. So far our major villains in the story have been the Rozzo’s, Yuuki and Leon. Leon not so much directly, but as a promise to Shizu he’s been in the back of our minds for ages. It looks like Granville is ready to put it all on the line and attack Rimuru with everything he has, both his army and his political power. He’s hoping that Leon and Rimuru fight each other in Lubelius at the same time while Yuuki is doing whatever the hell he is doing in the north. I think it’ll be nice to put an end to all of these schemers all at once. My prediction is that Rimuru defeats Leon and they somehow manage to see eye to eye, being part of Octagram together. Granville will die before this arc is over and Yuuki will end up escaping to the east, setting up for the next stage of this story. I could be totally wrong of course, I often am, but it does feel like that would be the cleanest way to continue this story. The only thing I haven’t really factored in yet is what Chloe and the former hero are going to do in all of this.

We see Leon talking to Elmessia about the children and Rimuru. He expresses that he has no intention to make an enemy out of Rimuru, but with how Rimuru views his acts of bringing people into this world I doubt that will go over well. Elmessia is willing to be a neutral party between possible negotiations. This does seem like it’ll ruin Granville’s plans to pit Leon against Rimuru. He’s searching for Chloe, so perhaps if they kidnap her that puts Leon against Rimuru. I think this is going to be a similar situation to when Clayman thought he had the upper hand and ended up being totally overwhelmed by the odds. I would however like to learn more about Cerberus. They’re in league with Yuuki and I believe from what we’ve seen so far they have something to do with the eastern kingdoms. 

While Rimuru and Hinata are having some high tea in the garden, with Diablo being totally obsessed about being useful as per usual, it seems like the cathedral is under attack. It is cute that the children want to join the fight too, but even though they are relatively strong for a bunch of children, they are nowhere near the level of people like Diablo, Shion and Rimuru. Leaving Diablo and Shion to protect the children and the musicians, Rimuru goes after the one in charge. Hinata is first to find Granville but the former hero, leader of the seven days’ clergy and leader of the Rozzo family came prepared, taking out Hinata and her company. Granville is upset that Rimuru fought back when Mariabel attacked him and traumatized Milim. He even knows the best way to deal with Rimuru. Rimuru has a soft spot for otherworlders after all. He does seem to see people from Earth as more of his own people than humans from this world. 

While Rimuru and Hinata deal with Granville and the cursed otherworlders and Maria is looking for Luminus, Diablo and Shion are struggling with the strange insect creature. Rimuru sends Ranga to back them up so Diablo can focus on the other threat that seems to be approaching this place. I wonder if that’s either Leon or Guy. I love Diablo and Shion’s little rivalry where they slowly gain more and more respect for each other. They have vastly different personalities but their goals and alignment are the same. Poor Venom.

And of course the clowns are here to make things even more complicated. They’re with Maria and Granville. At this point Yuuki has long betrayed any alignment he had with them. While Luminus’ attendants deal with the annoying clowns, Luminus is left to deal with Maria. Or what is left of her at least, as she died a long time ago. And while everyone is distracted, Yuuki swoops in to go claim Luminus’ treasure. What a scheming prick.

Lastly, we see that Guy has indeed come over to meddle with everything that is going on. The situation has gotten very complicated indeed, with everyone having something to do with this all out war. Diablo is here to fight against the primordial blue: Raine. Raine is upset that Diablo never wanted anything to do with the others and has now seemingly changed his mind completely to go and serve Rimuru. I said earlier that Diablo’s motivations have always been shady to say the least, I wonder if we ever get to see what his real feelings are and why he chose to side with Rimuru. Raine brings up good points about the nature of demons and why Diablo’s actions are strange. I think he has simply understood that serving under someone like Rimuru gives him the best chance to continue to evolve. And with one more smug look on his face, he takes out Raine with ease. And right as the episode ends, the real threat shows up.
