My new gaming obsession

In 2016 I got sucked into playing the MMORPG Black Desert Online and I never really recovered from that. I’m still playing the game every single day after 8 years and although I am still enjoying myself, I sometimes feel like I should make more time for other games. As a matter of fact, I have been doing that a little bit. I got into a habit about 2 years ago to spend the last 2-3 hours of my day laying in bed watching Youtube videos that allow me to turn my brain off. Lately I’ve been using this time to play some games on the Switch as well. I just use the Youtube content as background instead. But I also found a new PC game that has really gotten me addicted lately. And it seems like I’m not the only one.

TCG Card Shop Simulator is exactly what you would expect it to be when you read the table. It’s a simulation game where you have your own TCG card shop. You get to stock the shelves and man the counter. There are many of these sim games around and I’ve seen some streamers play them as well, but none of them quite piqued my interest. What’s different about this one is that it scratches that itch I haven’t felt since I played Hearthstone. That’s right, you can open the card packs and then even sell the singles. It’s like buying cards except they’re free because you only pay for the game itself once. Of course that also means the cards have no real value, but let’s be honest, neither do my Hearthstone cards, so how big of a difference is it.

There she is in all her glory: Trading Cardigan.
Just ignore the red number in the corner, that’s a glitch, I swear…..

So I started up Trading Cardigan – that’s the name of my shop – and business has been booming. I like managing a digital store like this. It tickles that autistic brain of mine just right. And once I get bored of doing the counter, I can just hire an NPC to do it and sit in the corner opening packs all day. The crazy thing is I’m already hoping I can complete the collection in this game which is probably madness since they’ve added a ton of different cards. They’re even planning to make the TCG playable at some point, which might be fun.

If you have some time and want to check out this game, give it a go. It’s on Steam and for only 13 euros you’ll easily get enough fun out of it for the price. If you don’t like their Tetramon, the made-up creatures that are on the cards, there are already mods out to reskin the game like Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh. Just hope you don’t get lynched by someone from Nintendo for stealing their made up animals. I’m going back to playing it right now, if you don’t mind, so thanks for taking the time read this and enjoy the rest of your day!
